Exam Structure and Assessment

To assess students’ understanding, AS & A Level IT 9626 consists of four external exams:

  • Paper 1 (Theory) – A 1 hour 45 minutes exam with 70 marks, covering topics 1–11. It makes up 50% of the AS Level and 25% of the A Level.
  • Paper 2 (Practical) – A 2 hours 30 minutes exam with 90 marks, focusing on practical tasks like spreadsheets, modelling, database and file concepts, and video and audio editing. This paper accounts for 50% of the AS Level and 25% of the A Level.
  • Paper 3 (Advanced Theory) – A 1 hour 45 minutes exam with 70 marks, covering topics 12–21 and forming 25% of the A Level.
  • Paper 4 (Advanced Practical) – A 2 hours 30 minutes exam with 90 marks, based on topics 17–21, including data analysis, graphics creation, animation, and web programming. It also makes up 25% of the A Level.
