Exam Components & Structure of O Level 2026

The assessment consists of three key components:

Component 1: Written Examination (1 hour 25 minutes) – 35%

• Total Marks: 70
• Format: A written exam with four compulsory questions.
• Focus: Analysis of sources presenting a global issue from different perspectives: personal, local/national, and global.
• Assessment: Externally marked.

Component 2: Individual Report – 30%

• Total Marks: 60
• Format: Candidates select a significant global issue from the topic list and conduct research.
• Key Requirements:
  • Examine different perspectives (local/national and global).
  • Develop a personal viewpoint.
  • Write a 1500–2000 word report in continuous text.
• Assessment: Internally set, externally marked.

Component 3: Team Project – 35%

• Total Marks: 70
• Format: Candidates work in teams to research a local issue related to a global topic.
• Key Elements:
  • Team Element (25 Marks): A 300–400 word Explanation of Research and Planning along with supporting Evidence of Action.
  • Personal Element (45 Marks): Each student writes a 750–1000 word Reflective Paper on their contribution to the project and personal learning.
• Assessment: Internally assessed, externally moderated.
